Abstract

439,191. Indicating liquid levels. WHITEHURST, J. T., and WATTS, W. E., 85, Hatton Garden, London. May 31, 1934, No. 16299. [Class 123 (i)] In a liquid-level indicator employing the variation in buoyancy of a partly-immersed body, a sinker 26 preferably equal in weight to that of its own volume of the liquid, is supported by a flexible member 28 passing over a pulley 12 having a counterweight 34. The pulley carries a pointer 38, which takes up a position on the scale 40 corresponding to the apparent weight of the sinker 26. A mercury switch 52 may be provided to control an electrically driven pump which supplies liquid to the tank 16.
