Class 123(1) A liquid level indicator and controller comprises an electrically conductive, needle-like probe 15, for example of stainless steel, which depends coaxially within a polythene tube 1 having an open lower end and mounted by its upper end in a boss 3 having a threaded nipple 4 by which the boss is screwed into an aperture in the top of a container, for example a water tank, so that the tube hangs down inside. When the liquid level rises in the container the liquid enters the tube and contacts the point of the probe whereupon an electric circuit is closed through the liquid and the probe to control the supply of liquid and/or to indicate that it has attained the desired level. To prevent surface agitation in the container from affecting the control or indication the movement of the liquid in the tube is damped by providing only a small vent hole 20 to atmosphere at the top of the tube 1, the vent being provided with an adjustable valve screw 21.
