Abstract

438,840. Casting concrete walls in situ. FANNING, R. A., 6, Greenmount Lane, Harold's Cross, Dublin. Feb. 20, 1935, No. 5477. Convention date, April 23, 1934. [Class 20 (ii)] Shuttering for use in casting walls &c. in situ comprises spaced panels 9 which are secured by tie-rods 7 having ends bent over at an angle less than a right-angle to engage in sockets 1 which are provided with shanks 2 whereby they may be clamped to the panels by nuts 4. After the concrete is cast and has taken its initial set the panels are slid off the ends of the tie-rods (which tie-rods remain embedded in the concrete), the locally damaged concrete in the neighbourhood of the socket space being made good by filling with a sand-cement mixture and trowelling. Uprights 10, similarly tied, are provided at intervals and at corners, the meeting faces of the panels and uprights being correspondingly bevelled. If desired, straight bolts, smeared with grease to render them removable, may be used for securing the uprights. Battens 11 may be fastened across the ends of a series of panels 9, the battens being provided with sliding bolts 12 for coupling the panels to the uprights. Packing-pieces 14 are provided under the panel so that the panel may be slid downwardly after the packing-pieces have been removed after casting the first part of the wall. The panels are then re-positioned on the uprights at a higher level for a further casting operation.
