Abstract

438,716. Television &c. SCHIFF, L., 26, Augustastrasse, Lichterfelde, Berlin. April 9, 1934, No. 27808 /35. Divided out of 439,737. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (iii)] A small optical image of a picture to be transmitted is focused on to a photo-electric layer on the cathode 27 of a cathode - ray tube 11 and the electron image so produced, in which the density of electrons emitted from different points of the cathode corresponds to the brightness of the points of the picture, is reproduced on an enlarged scale in another plane 16 of the tube by means of a coil 20 or by an electrostatic device or a combination of coil and electrostatic device. The electron rays are deflected as by plates 18, 19 so that the enlarged image in the plane 16 is scanned in zigzag manner by the peak of a fixed electrode 29 connected to the grid of an amplifier 25. A grid anode 28 co-operates with the cathode 27, and the coil 20 is between this anode and the deflecting plates. The optical image is focused on to the cathode 27 through a window 26 in the tube 11. The electron image may be enlarged several times before being scanned by the electrode 29.
