Abstract
438,520. Prepayment mechanism for meters. UNITED GAS INDUSTRIES, Ltd., 51, Lincoln's Inn Fields, SMITH, E. W., 186, Kennington Park Road, and CHARLES, A., Meter Works, Rowan Road, Streatham Vale, all in London. May 12, 1934, No. 14444. Addition to 404,002. [Class 27] Indicators.- The invention described in the parent Specification is modified by providing the crown driving wheel of the unused units indicator drum in the form of a series of slots, recesses, or the like, stamped, cut, or otherwise provided in the material of the drum. Thus, a peripheral series of crown teeth may be cut in the open or outer edge of the drum, or, as shown, a circular series of slots m<3> may be provided in the bottom of the drum m. These slots are engaged by a toothed driving wheel n meshing with a pinion o held in frictional engagement with a differentially operated valve controlling member i by a spring washer o'. This frictional coupling allows for initial adjustment of the drum relative to a fixed pointer behind a sight window a'.
