Abstract

438,489. Ventilators. PEVERLEY, R. ST. L., 21, Hough Green, Chester, and HEPPENSTALL, T. A., 137, Raeburn Avenue, Eastham, Cheshire. April 2, 1935, No. 10222. [Class 137] A ventilator of minimum height for use on vehicles or stationary structures comprises a suction band 10 enclosing a flared eduction pipe 12 which forms with the suction band a relatively deep chamber within which a substantial volume of water may accumulate without passing into the eduction pipe. The eduction pipe is attached to a base 13 separated from the suction band by a space 14 which forms an outlet passage and is covered by a cap 15 having an inclined rim 16 and a vertical flange 17. A baffle 22 and the rim 16 break the force of entering water, and reduce its rebound when striking the base 13. A baffle 20 prevents wind blowing upwardly between the base 13 and the suction band, and interfering with the free discharge of the gases.
