Abstract

437,708. Stays. BOWER, A. T., and MASSEY, W., Longford Mill, Chester Street, Oxford Road, Manchester. March 30, 1935, No. 9921. [Class 65 (i)] In a door stay of the kind comprising a flat section bar a, pivoted to the door by a staple, slidably engaging a stirrup j pivoted to the door frame and having a notch f on its under side to engage a part to hold the door open, the arm is formed at its pivot end with an eye b in the plane of the arm to engage the staple c, which has its loop in a horizontal plane. The eye b is preferably formed by closing up a hook formed on the end of the bar a. In the form shown in plan in Fig. 7, the stirrup extends downwards from a pivot pin mounted in a bracket l. The notch f in the stay-bar engages the lower edge of the stirrup aperture, or, in a modification, may engage an arcuate member i, shown dotted, fixed to the bracket l concentric with the stirrup pivot. A bolt g in the end of the bar a prevents complete withdrawal of the bar from the stirrup.
