Abstract

Platinum catalysts are regenerated by treatment with a volatile carboxylic acid other than formic acid, which is in the liquid phase or is dissolved in a volatile solvent such as water or alcohol. The liquid may be sprayed upon the catalyst. Suitable agents are acetic, acrylic, butyric, benzoic, lactic, phthalic, propionic, oxalic, and succinic acids.
