437,629. Electric signalling systems. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. March 1, 1935, No. 6553. Convention date, March 1, 1934. [Class 40 (i)] In order that the transmitter of a signalling system for repeating the indications of a primary instrument shall exert no disturbing reaction of the primary instrument, the primary instrument controls a pair of variable inductances M<1>, M2 which are connected respectively in circuit with receiver windings 4, 5, the arrangement being such that equal opposed torques are exerted on the instrument shaft for all positions of the shaft. The cores of the inductances may be shaped so that the inductances are varied reciprocally upon movement of the instrument shaft. In a modification, a single core of constant cross-section co-operates with the coils. The cores may be of magnetic alloy and may be provided with air gaps. The magnetic saturation of the cores is made sufficiently low to render the inductance independent of voltage variations.
