Abstract
437,333. Electrode furnaces. AKT.- GES. BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE, Baden, Switzerland. March 29, 1935, No. 9811. Convention date, May 3, 1934. [Class 39 (iii)] [See also Group XII] An electric smelting-furnace is charged by raising the electrodes c along with the furnace cover d and running out the furnace crucible from the furnace framework to receive the charge. The electrode lifting means may be operated by a hydraulic drive b and the crucible may move on a roller cradle f actuated by a hydraulic drive i. The furnace cover may be detachably suspended so that it can be run out with the crucible if desired for repair purposes. The track k carrying the roller cradle is partly carried by a tilting cradle h and partly by the furnace foundations. The pipes for supplying cooling water and water for the hydraulic drives may be telescopic.
