Abstract
411,041. Annealing - furnaces. AKT.- GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. Dec. 7, 1933, No. 34429. Convention date, Dec. 7, 1932. [Class 51 (ii).] The annealing-furnace according to Specification 277,379, [Class 51 (ii)], is modified so that, during the cooling period, the cover extension 3 may be located at the same level as the charge 11 with an unobstructed space therebetween. In the construction shown in Figs. 1, 2, the furnace walls 9, carrying the heating-elements 8, are movable vertically by screws 10 so that they can be lowered from the heating position, Fig. 1, to the cooling position, Fig. 2. A modification is described in which the cover 1 and the walls 9, both counterbalanced by weights 2, are coupled together by right and left hand screw spindles so that, on the change - over, they are respectively raised and lowered simultaneously. In this arrangement, the extension 3 projects downwardly into a deep sealing-trough 5 mounted on the outside of the walls 9. In a further construction, Fig. 6, the charge 11 is supported in a carrier 17 detachably secured at 18 to the cover 1, the change-over to cooling position being effected by raising the cover to the position shown.
