Abstract

Resistance furnaces.- In bright annealing furnaces which are filled with a protective gas, and the gas is heated before it is passed into the furnace, the protective gas is supplied to the interior of the furnace through a pipe 18 which may be electrically heated outside the furnace by a coil 19, the pipe 18 passing through the cover 11 of the furnace, and is heated on contact with the hot surface of the cover. The heated gas is then guided by a plate 21 through the joins of loosely superimposed firebricks 20 which form the inner wall of the furnace. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) the pipe 18 may be embedded in the wall of the furnace and communicate directly with the interior of the furnace. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
