[Class 51 (ii)] Heat insulation is provided for a rotary kiln by means of a unitary closed cylinder 1, formed of thin sheets of aluminium, galvanized iron or the like, preferably brightly polished, spaced from the iron shell 2 by supports 4 of various forms rigidly secured to the cylinder but loosely touching the shell 2 over a small area only. Supports 10 and 11 seal the cylinder from tuyÞres 9, and may house slide or flap valves for the latter.
