Abstract

A paste for making an electrically conductive joint between a non-metallic heating element, e.g. a silicon carbide rod, and a terminal cap consists of a finely divided conducting material and a plasticizing material that is subsequently carbonized by heating. The conducting material may be a metal such as steel, or silicon or siliconized silicon carbide may be used. Carbon may be added to the paste. The plasticizer may be blown linseed oil, cellulose acetate solution, or solution of dextrine. Sodium silicate may be added as a binding material.
