Abstract
436,839. Directive wireless signalling. LORENZ AKT.-GES., C., 1, Lorenzweg, Tempelhof, Berlin. March 15, 1935, No. 8159. Convention date, Aug. 14, 1934. [Class 40 (v)] Relates to the circuits used for receiving course-marking signals say on 7 metres, and other signals say on 3 metres, in aircraft navigation. According to the invention, both signals are fed to a common low-frequency stage of the receiver, and one only of the rectified signals, namely the marker signal, is used to apply automatic gain control to that signal. The marker signal is received on the aerial A and is rectified at G1. The 3-metre signal is received on the aerial D and is rectified at G2, and combined with the first signal in the input to the low-frequency amplifier N1. The output of the following stage N2 comprises a filter circuit 6, 3, 4, 5 tuned to the note frequency of the 3-metre signal, so that this is filtered out to a separate indicator, whilst the note frequency of the marker or 7-metre wave is filtered out by the circuits 7... 10, and passes to an indicator J. Part of the lowfrequency output from the transformer 11 is rectified at 12 and, after smoothing, is fed back to control the gain of the detector G1 as the distance of the craft from the course-marker beacon alters.
