436,783. Rolling wire rods. SCHLOEMANN AKT.-GES., 13, Steinstrasse, Diisseldorf, Germany. June 4, 1935, No. 16264. Convention date, June 4, 1934. [Class 83 (iv)] A number of wire rods b are passed in parallel through the roughing stands 11 to 16 of a rolling mill and thereafter each rod is led to individual roll stands, e.g. 17 and 20 bridged by a guide 23 for the last two finishing passes, the guides 23 crossing each other. This eliminates the irregularity when finishing all the wires in a mill with a number of grooves where one pass adjustment could not compensate for the different wear of the individual grooves. There may be more roughing stands to compensate for the fewer finishing passes. A single wire a may be passed through all the stands as shown.
