Abstract

454,988. Machines for making strands or cables. RATH, J., 28, Poststrasse, Lippstadt, Germany. Oct. 1, 1935, No. 27041. [Class 109] Means are provided for straightening the individual wires or strands during their passage from the supply spools 6 to the closing die 9. Each straightening - device d comprises sets of rolls ql, t<1> disposed at right angles to one another and carried by a spider 7 rotating with the flyer 4. The rolls ql are mounted upon a base plate s which is adjustable angularly with respect to the spider 7, in two planes at right angles, and are themselves adjustable with respect to the plate s at right angles to the line of travel of the wire or strand. The rolls t<1> are mounted upon an angle plate secured to the plate a. The wire or strand is guided to and from the rolls by eyes r<1>. The closing die may comprise two elements, the upper of which is held in position by a weighted lever.
