Abstract
Pipes, vessels, and other plant for use in manufacturing, conveying, and storing beer, are made of copper alloys containing up to 10 per cent of aluminium. The alloys may contain also up to 30 per cent of zinc, about 1 per cent of silicon or manganese, or a small amount of nickel. The interior of the pipes or vessels may be cleaned before use by pickling in a solution containing 10 per cent of sulphuric acid and 10 per cent of sodium dichromate, and are preferably closed to the atmosphere in the interval between cleaning and installation.
