Abstract

<PICT:0436399/III/1> In the recovery of hydrocarbons by adsorption they are expelled from the adsorbent by steaming from above downwards, and that portion of them which is obtained in liquid form during the steaming is revaporized by heat - exchange with the gaseous portion, the hydrocarbons being recovered by condensation. During or before the distillation the products may be washed with a reagent adapted to prevent the revaporization of injurious constituents such as sulphur compounds &c. The Figure illustrates an adsorber A into which steam is admitted at 1; the liquid hydrocarbons first expelled collect in the washer B and are subsequently revaporized by the gaseous products expelled from A, the vapours being condensed at C.
