Abstract

435,455. Electric signalling systems. HALL, R. A., 1, Mayfield Road, Wimbledon, London. March 15, 1934, No. 8221. [Class 40 (i)] The level of a liquid is indicated electrically by variation of current due to the change in effective resistance of a number of straight wires 1 shorted by a float 5. The wires, eight in number, are supported by insulated end members spaced by a rod 4 and are connected in series at their upper ends only. The float is guided by the rod or by the wires and is provided with rollers running in pairs on the individual wires. The wires &c. may be protected by a perforated casing and the whole may be supported by the filler cap. The ammeter and battery may be combined with the device. When the level in each of a number of tanks has to be indicated a common battery and ammeter may be wired through a selector switch with the several resistanceunits, and the switch may be combined structurally with the ammeter.
