[Class 40 (i)] In a motor vehicle the level of fuel in the tank and that of the electrolyte in the battery are alternatively indicated by the same indicating instrument. As shown, the latter 10 is connected through a switch 17, preferably of the pressbutton type, either with the resistance 20 varied by a float 22 in the fuel tank, or with an electrode 24 carried by a filler cap 25 and extending downwardly into the battery.
