Abstract

460,762. Electric signalling systems. RODWAY, J. I. Oct. 20, 1936, No. 28520. Addition to 458,010. [Class 40 (i)] In a liquid-level indicator for the fuel tank of a motor vehicle as described in the parent Specification an open-topped casing 3 is secured to the tank and closed by a cover 5. A spindle 6 projects through the casing, and is connected to a float arm 8 outside the casing, and to a contact arm 9 with a spring contact 16, within the casing. Contacts 11-15 are connected to lamps 21-24 of different colours, the circuit including a fuse 27 and switch 28. The lamps give an indication of the amount of fuel in the tank, the contacts being so arranged that one of the lamps is always in circuit. The lowest lamp 24 is red to serve as a warning signal, and may be connected to the last contact but one, the last contact 15 being in circuit with an audible warning device, so that the two signals operate together.
