[Class 40 (i)] [Also in Group XVIII] In a liquid-level indicator, a float 10 rocks an arm 48, through linkwork 12, 28, 33, 32, the arm 48 operating through further adjustable links and a rack and pinion 58, 74, the arm 82 of a rheostat 86 connected in circuit with an indicating instrument. The link 32 is secured to a pivoted yoke 34 and is sealed to the top of a bellows-like sleeve 38 which is also sealed to a plug 40 in order to isolate the rheostat from the liquid of the tank. Several float-operated rheostats may be arranged one above the other in a deep tank, the rheostats being connected in series with a single instrument and operated successively as the liquid level varies. Furthermore, a single instrument may be selectively connected to any one of a plurality of float-operated rheostats. Specification 343,909, [Group XVIII], is referred to.
