Abstract
435,446. Stud-and-socket fastenings. GIBBY, J., 6, Miller Grove, Kew, Victoria, Australia. Dec. 18, 1933, No. 35588. Convention date, Dec. 17, 1932. [Class 44] [See also Group VII] A fastener for detachably securing the tread to the heel of a boot or the like comprises a pin 1 attached to the tread and an open-ended socket 6 embedded in the heel, or vice-versa. The inner end of the socket is split and is adapted by inturned flanges 8 as in Fig. 1, or by tapering as in Fig. 4, to close on the neck 2 of the pin after the pin-head has been forced therethrough ; or, if the pin has a head in the form of a double cone as in Fig. 4, the inner end of the socket closes on the lower half of the pin-head. The external diameter of the split part of the socket is reduced to allow it to expand in the aperture in the heel during the insertion of the pin. The pin is secured in the heel tread by a nut 5 engaging the shank 4 of the pin. Specification 415,882 is referred to.
