435,172. Converting. ALLGEMEINE ELEKTRICITATS-GES., 2, Friedrich Karl- Ufer, Berlin. Dec. 8, 1933, No. 34598. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 11, 1934]. [Class 38 (ii)] In a converting arrangement, e.g. rectifier, inverter, or frequency changer employing gridcontrolled discharge devices, the apparatus supplying the control potentials is remotely controlled. In the form shown in the Figure, the grids of a rectifier 3 are connected to a phase shifting transformer 5 which can be adjusted by means of a reversible motor 6 controlled from a distance through relays 91, 9<11>. In a modification the grids are supplied from a transformer, the primary of which is connected to a winding on the main transformer 2 through chokes provided with saturating windings to vary the phase angle. These windings are supplied from a D.C. circuit through a resistance which is adjusted by the motor 6. In a further modification the motor 6 is eliminated and the relays operate direct onto a toothed wheel on the spindle of the phase shifting transformer.
