Abstract
434,724. Cash registers. NATIONAL CASH REGISTER CO., Dayton, Ohio, U.S.A. March 7, 1934, No. 7268. Convention date, March 13, 1933. [Class 100 (iv)] [See also Group XIX] Sheet feeding and guiding arrangements.- In a cash register or similar accounting-machine of the kind wherein a printing-hammer is given two excursions to make an impression on an inserted slip and a record strip successively, the slip is fed out of the machine by a feeding-bar of substantially the same width as the hammer and positively actuated after the first excursion of the hammer. The record strip 17 passes over a writing plate 15, around a fixed roller 16, between the platens 13 and type-wheels 14, and around a flexibly mounted roller 39. This roller is mounted on arms projecting from a shaft 40 and is urged downwardly by a spring 45 engaging a cranked extension 44 of one of the arms. The roller may be raised by manipulation of an ear 46 on the extension to permit the insertion of a new strip. An endless ink-ribbon 22 passes over the typewheels and is held in raised position beneath the roller 39 by means of springs 48. The arrangement is such that the record strip and ink ribbon serve to guide the leading edge of a slip, inserted through a slot 21, into a notch 24 in an ejecting-bar 23. This bar extends the full width of the platens to be operative on slips of all sizes and is camactuated immediately after the slip has been printed positively to eject the slip and permit the record strip to be impressed at the second excursion of the platens. Specification 227,852, [Class 100 (iv)], is referred to.
