434,199. Circuits for cathode ray tubes. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, and YOUNG, A. J., 61, Galveston Road, Putney, both in London. Feb. 23, 1934, No. 6034. [Class 40 (iii)] The intensity of a cathode-ray is modulated by modulating the anode voltage of the tube, and the forces deflecting the ray to scan a predetermined area are simultaneously varied in dependence on the modulating-potentials to compensate variation in the speed of scanning resulting from modulation of the anode voltage. The signals, which also produce the anode modulation, are applied to the grid 3 of a pentode rectifier, and potentials from a tapping 9 in an anode impedance R1 are applied to the control grid 12 of a pentode amplifier to vary its mutual conductance. Potentials 10 from a time-base circuit are applied across an impedance R2 between the tapping 9 and the grid 12. The anode circuit of the amplifying-valve provides the force for deflecting the cathode ray. According to modifications ; the tapping 9 is on an impedance between the cathode 2 of the rectifier and the negative end H.T. of the source of anode potential ; the compensating device is combined with the time-base unit, Fig. 2 (not shown).
