Abstract
433,616. Magnetic separators. ELECTROMAGNETS, Ltd., and BOX, W. E., 2, Church Street, Colmore Row, Birmingham. Feb. 9, 1934, No. 4290. [Class 72] A rotary magnetic separator drum 5 comprises a central core A having radial arms 3b forming the cores of electromagnets and being of greater thickness than intermediate arms 3<c>, the windings 4 for the electromagnets being arranged in the spaces between the arms 3b, 3<c>. The material is fed over the drum by an endless belt 7 provided with blocks 8 of para-magnetic material arranged in transverse rows in staggered formation and preferably provided with toothed or serrated edges. Disposed at the rear of the drum 5 and between the portions of the belt 7 is an armature 9 having its ends of opposite polarity, one end causing the magnetic particles to adhere firmly to the belt and the other ensuring the discharge of the magnetic particles from the belt.
