Abstract

Magnetic separators.-In an electromagnetic separator of the type in which endless windings a surround a, core b and magnetizable bodies d, d<1> move beside and between the windings a, the magnetic particles clinging to the drum e after the suppression or interruption of the magnetic force are forced or repelled away from the separator by magnetic force by the sudden conversion of the polarity of the poles at the discharge point to the same sign. On the delivery side of the drums, a magnet core g is arranged between the ends of tho winding a and is provided with a pole shoe h adapted to act over the full length and breadth of the discharge zone so that the poles d, d<1> of different polarity, on arriving at the discharge point, pass transversely over the shoe h and are polarized the same sign. More than one core g placed end to end may be employed either with a common shoe h or shoes to correspond to the number of cores. Specification 1619/11 is referred to.
