Abstract

431,557. Cable terminals. COLLINS, S. L., 83, Vicarage Road, Sunbury-on-Thames. Jan. 28, 1935, No. 2771. [Class 38 (i)] A cable end-piece adapted to be engaged with a terminal post is formed with three prongs (Fig. 1), the central one of which is inserted in the core of the cable while the others are forced into the cable insulation. A sleeve 7 (Fig. 2) may be applied over the prongs when in position. In other forms the prongs may be serrated or the central one may be twisted to screw into the core, the end-piece may be made integral with clips 8, Fig. 10, or the engagement with the post may be by means of an open slot, a hook, a hole as in Fig. 1, but with a spring tongue to engage the screw-thread of the post, or a bent-over end, Fig. 14. In Fig. 15, the outer prongs are notched to receive a ring 13, and in Fig. 22 the entire piece is made of a single length of wire, the ends of which are bent at 12<1> to receive the ring 15. Fig. 23 shows a sleeve with a slotted closed end for use in place of sleeve 7 in Fig. 2. The endpiece may be duplex as in Fig. 25 to accommodate two cables.
