Abstract

451,566. Two-part couplings. UNITED STATES RUBBER CO., 1790, Broadway, New York, U.S.A. Jan. 6, 1936, No. 443. Convention date, Jan. 5, 1935. [Class 38 (i)] A body 10 of soft rubber is formed with a central passage for an electric lead 14, and with recesses for contact blades 12 which are inserted from the front of the body 10 after attachment to the conductors 20 of the lead 14. The blades 12 are formed with a barb 17 that embeds itself in the body. The conductor ends 20 lie in slots 15. In a modification for use with cable having a thick round sheath, the central passage is reduced in diameter at its end to form a shoulder against which the end of the sheath abuts. The elasticity of the body allows the cable to be drawn through the reduced passage for attachment to the contact blades, a quick drying liquid coating being applied to the sheath to prevent fraying.
