Abstract
431,053. Current collectors for electric vehicles. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., 28, Kingsway, London, and MARDIS, P. L., Lyndhurst, Sedbergh Park, Ilkley, Yorkshire. Dec. 1, 1933, No. 33806. [Class 104 (iii)] In a current collector of the kind comprising two trollies mounted on separate poles pivoting about vertical axes on opposite ends of a centrally pivoted platform 2 on the vehicle, the flexible cables 10 passing down the hollow poles 9 are connected to the lead-in cables 11 by rubbing joints, each comprising an insulator 16 supporting a member 17 provided with a screwed stem 17<a>. A collar 10<a> on the end of the cable 10 is fixed on the stem by a sleeve 18, washer 19 and nut 20. A collar 11<a> on the end of the cable 11 is pressed on the collar 10<a> by a washer 21, and a spring mounted between the washers 19, 21.
