[Class 97 (i)] The casing of apparatus for use as a projector, or camera, or both, is formed behind the lens with a recessed part which accommodates a rotary drum shutter extending at right angles from a plate fitting into the casing ; the plate may extend from front to rear of the casing, and may also carry on one face, a film feed mechanism, a gate, driving means for the take-up spool, and other elements, and, on the other face, driving mechanism therefor. As shown, the casing comprises a frame 1 and detachable side plates 3. The frame is provided with a structure 15 forming, behind the lens 2, a recess 16 for the shutter, and a second recess 17 for the feed mechanism. A plate 4, carrying a drum shutter 5, a gate 7, a pressure plate 8 bearing a condenser 9, a projection lamp 10, a slipping-clutch 11 for the take-up spool, and guide rollers 12, abuts against the side of the structure 15 and against stops 18 on the frame. A counter plate 13 is spaced from the plate 4, and, with it, carries a clockwork, or electric, motor, and a gear train 14. The plates are secured by screws threaded into ribs 19 in the frame. The shutter consists of two cylindrical blades and is driven so as to uncover the gate aperture from top to bottom. The feed mechanism consists of two links 26, 28, respectively pivoted eccentrically on a disc 24 and on an arm fixed to the plate 4, a claw 27 being formed on the link 26. The projection lamp 10 is carried by a housing 30 on a bracket 32 adjustably secured to permit displacement or removal of the lamp.
