542,016. Roll-film cameras. MAMIYA, S. June 20, 1940, No. 10638. Convention date, July 1, 1939. [Class 98 (i)] The film-holder of a roll-film camera is moved backwards and forwards for focusing by means of cams secured on two spindles which are rotatably mounted in the camera body and adjusted by the operating knob of a range-finder. As shown, a plate 2 in which is formed the exposure opening 3 has film-guiding plates 5 attached at its upper and lower edges, a backing-plate 31 also sliding into the guides behind the film. The plate 2 is positioned, as regards its distance, from the'lens, by eccentric circular cams 27 mounted on two vertical shafts 16, 16<SP>1</SP> and operating between the plate and the forwardly off-set ends of bars 28 secured to its upper and lower edges. A focusing-wheel 18 on the shaft 16, together with gears 25, 26, 35, 251, rotates both shafts equally so that the cams move the plate 2 towards or from the lens. A cam 21 on the shaft 16 swings a lever 22 which rocks the prism 23 of a range-finder of known type through an arm 24 extending from the prism holder. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 521,606.
