429,206. Electrodeposition of chromium. HORST, H. VAN DER, 22, Alexanderlaan, Hilversum, Holland. Feb. 1, 1934, No. 3298. Addition to 401,933. [Class 41] The method of depositing chromium on the inner surface of a cylinder bore according to the parent Specification is modified by the use of an anode b of circular crosssection tapered slightly from top to bottom. Variation in the thickness of deposit due to accumulation of gas in the upper part of the annular space is thereby compensated. Further control of the uniformity is obtained by slight variation of the current density. The reduction in diameter may be one to one and a half parts for every hundred parts of the axial length. The mean diameter of the anode may be two-thirds to seven-eights that of the cylinder bore. The anode is provided with insulating sleeves c and the bore a with a temporary extension d during plating. The anodes may be corrugated or provided with a screw thread.
