679,570. Smallarms. TURNER, D. Sept. 18, 1950. [Dec. 8, 1949] No. 31502/49. Drawings to Specification. Class 119. The fore-end of a rifle is cast or moulded either directly onto the barrel or onto a member into which the barrel fits. If the melting point of the material used is low the rifle barrel may be placed into a mould into which the material for forming the fore-end is poured. If the material is made from a metal or alloy with a high melting point it may be cast round a steel tube into which the barrel is fitted, or round a rod which is subsequently bored to receive the barrel. Alternatively the material may be cast round a rod or tube which is subsequently worked to constitute the barrel.
