Известно применение пластических масс в качестве материалов дл  изготовлени  уплотнительных колец (прокладок) гидравлических систем и машин. Изготовление уплотнительных ко.тец (прокладок) пневматических и гидравлических машин производитс  путем зализки смеси мономеров до начала полимеризации в металлические формы. Перед заливкой, смеси ее компоненты-порошок (сополимерстиро.О и жидкость (метилметакрилат ) в весовых соотношени х от 0,4 : 1 до О J : 1 - перемешивают в течение 5-10 минут. Стиракрил не обладает адгезией к металлу , что дает возможность не предъ вл ть особо высоких требований к чистоте обработки поверхности формы. В течение 1,5-2 час. при комнатной температуре или в течение 30-40 мин. при нагреве формы до температуры 60 происходит полное отвг)дение залитой в форму массы. После отвердени  массы заготовку кольца по поверхности , располагавшейс  в плоскости разъема формы, обрабатывают посредством точени .
