Abstract
428,703. Barrels &c. BARNES, F. J. T., 184, Breakfast Creek Road, Newstead, Brisbane, Australia. Nov. 17, 1933, No. 32113. [Class 21] Complete drainage of the contents of a barrel, drum, or like container is ensured by providing a drainage channel 24, Fig. 1, leading to the bunghole 27. The bottom may be flat with the drainage channel extending completely across it in two directions at right angles. A handle for manipulating the container may be associated with a bush 28, lugs 44, Fig. 11, on which engage with a plain slot 42 and an L-shaped slot 43, the lugs being clamped by a grub-screw. In an alternative form of handle a lip within the central aperture of the handle engages beneath a flange around the upper edge of the bush 28 and a grub-screw at the opposite side of the aperture of the handle secures the connection. The grip portions of the handle may slope upwardly from the central ring portion. Drainage channels with their cooperating bungholes may be formed at both ends of the container, and the channel portions may be made separately from the container and welded thereto. Specifications 397,257 and 400,374 are referred to in the Provisional Specification and Specifications 9927/87, [Class 84], and 7701/95, [Class 21], in the Complete Specification.
