Abstract
428,297. Piles. ROTINOFF, G. A., and ROTINOFF, A. M., (Representatives of ROTINOFF, A. G.), 36a, Queen's Gate, South Kensington, London. Nov. 11, 1933, No. 31505. [Class 68 (ii)] The edges of concrete-slab piles are connected by intermediate members engaging with tension members in the piles. The Figure shows a part of a wall comprising concrete slab piles b with tension members a extending through them at intervals in the length of each pile. Each member a has a head d, and the adjacent heads are connected by long members c, which may be withdrawn as the recessed edges of the slabs are filled, e.g. by forcing concrete under pressure down a central hole, not shown, in the member c. In modifications, the members a are in pairs with hooked ends which embrace flanges of I- or square-section connecting members c. Similar devices may be used for connecting the sides of large piles or small caissons. The parts a may extend inwards from the edges of the slabs or caissons, but need not extend right through. In another form, the parts a are in the form of bands, embracing the piles and comprising channel-section or T- section parts for the reception of I - section connecting members c. The recesses in the edges of the slab may be formed with secondary recesses to facilitate the insertion of water pipes for cleaning the edges of the piles, and for other purposes.
