Abstract

Piles.-Sheet piles of reinforced concrete are provided with a reinforced longitudinal web a, Fig. 1, or webs v, w, Figs. 6 and 7. The heads are formed with rectangular driving-blocks having the full dimensions in plan of the flanges and webs of the piles, and the abutting flanges may be interlocked with or without grouting. After a row of piles has been driven, the concrete of the driving-blocks may be partially chipped off, and the whole length re-concreted, with the insertion of reinforcing-members so as to form a continuous beam, which may be connected by tie-rods with an anchorage.
