Abstract

428,245. Revolving doors. ELLIOTT, C. A., Lamorna, Upper Warren Avenue, Mapledurham, Oxfordshire, and ELLIOTT & SONS (READING), Ltd., S., 24, Basinghall Street, London. Dec. 16, 1933, No. 35504. [Class 20 (iii)] A revolving door comprises three collapsable wings normally arranged at angles of 120‹. Two of the wings are rotatable about hinges to lie against the third wing, Fig. 3, and are retained in working position by spring catches on the wings engaging a cross arm on the central post or by cross arms as described in Specification 365,749, [Group XXV]. In order to stop through-draught a flexible or other strip 16 is mounted on the edge of each wing to contact with the casing 14 and means may be provided for retaining the wings in definite positions consisting of a triangular head rotating with the door and having rollers 22, Fig. 9, engaging a spring-pressed T-piece 20 mounted on a fixed bracket 17 above the soffit. The leaves are positioned when rotated into operative position by rollers &c. 30 engaging recesses in a spring-pressed plate 26, Fig. 4, mounted on the central spindle 1. When the wings are collapsed the door may be moved to one side on a supporting trolley 37 and guide track 36 mounted over a slot in the soffit. The door spindle may be permanently attached to the trolley or detachably connected therewith by a T-headed slidable stem operated by a handle 41 protruding through a slot in the tubular housing of the spindle. Castors 32 may be provided on the bottom of one or more wings which are depressed on to the floor to support the wings by eccentrics 34 and handles 35, Fig. 14. The door may be rotated by motor and bevel gearing.
