[Class 138 (ii)] The agitator e<1> may be either reciprocated or oscillated in the washing vessel by being mounted on a square shaft e which is slidable in a rotary bearing d carried in a removable housing b, c secured in the reinforced centre of the pivoted lid a of the machine. The operating handle e<2> is secured to the shaft and is used both for reciprocating and oscillating the agitator which comprises a central concave portion with radial wings.
