Abstract
Sheet-metal, wire, or ribbon cores of ferromagnetic material made according to the parent Specification are formed of an iron-nickel alloy to which titanium is added, the material being cold-stretched to produce a reduction in thickness up to 90 per cent or more. Before cold-stretching, the material is cooled in the open or is quenched in water depending upon the percentage of titanium employed, and is then annealed at 350 to 650 DEG C. After cold-stretching, the material is subjected to a further heat treatment at 50 to 300 DEG C. to reduce the hysteresis constant without affecting the instability factor. The titanium may be replaced wholly or in part by beryllium and vanadium.
