Abstract

Cements, concretes, and mortars are water-proofed by the addition of an aqueous paraffin wax emulsion which is free from acid, acid-yielding substances, soap, and fixed alkali. The emulsion may contain a small proportion of gelatin and a very small proportion of soluble salt (not specified); it may contain also 1 per cent of a preserving agent such as boric acid or phenol. An example is given.
