Abstract
A composition for levelling floors comprises sand as the major proportion and a minor proportion of polyvinyl acetate emulsion. Preferred compositions contain 15 to 19 per cent. of emulsion and 76 to 80 per cent. of sand. The emulsion may contain about 40 to 55 per cent. solids. Part of the resin emulsion, for example, 50 per cent., may be replaced by an asphalt emulsion, e.g. one containing 50 to 75 per cent. solids. Small amounts of water, sodium silicate, asbestos and emulsifying agent (sodium salt of polymerized alkyl aryl sulphonic acid) may also be added.
