Abstract
A cold-setting composition to be applied to surfaces such as floors, walls and ceilings is produced by adding a dry mixture of an anhydrous cement, an ahydrous shrinkage controller and p non-inflammable extender to an emulsion of a drying oil in water containing dispersed animal glue. The amount of glue is preferably between 7-8 per cent by weight of the cement. Suitable cements are Portland and aluminous cements. The specified shrinkage controller is plaster of Paris. Extenders include sand, grit and asbestos floats. The emulsion is preferably made up by dissolving the glue in water and paint driers in the oil and mixing the two solutions in a colloid mill or high-speed stirrer. Suitable oils are dehydrated castor oil, linseed oil and tung oil. Before applying to steel, a priming coating, e.g. of an aqueous emulsion of polyvinyl acetate, should be used. Pigments such as titanium oxide, iron oxide and amber, and fungicides may be added to the mix.ALSO:A cold setting composition to be applied to surfaces such as floors, walls and ceilings, is produced by adding a dry mixture of an anhydrous cement, an anhydrous shrinkage controller and non-inflammable extenders to an emulsion of a drying oil in water containing dispersed animal glue.
