Abstract

Cellular concrete is obtained by adding, to an aqueous cement composition, an anionic surface active agent and an ethylene oxide condensation product of either an alkylated phenol or a fatty alcohol. The total addition is from 0,03 to 0,60 per cent relative to the cement, made up of 15 to 150 parts of the surface active agent to 100 parts of the condensation product. Specified agents are the alkali metal salts of a long chain fatty acid, an alkyl aryl sulphonic acid, a sulphated fatty alcohol, rosin acids p or tall oil neutralised either with alkali metal hydroxides or amines. Accelerators, e.g., calcium chloride; and stabilizers, e.g., degraded protein and cellulose ethers may also be present.
