Abstract
427,224. Chair frames. MEALING, R. N., Avenue House, West End Road, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. March 27, 1934, No. 9528. [Class 52 (ii)] Strengthening means for wooden chairs comprise a flat rectangular section metal bar 1 adapted to be secured under the rear edge of the seat 2 by means permitting expansion or contraction of the seat, e.g. by means of screws 7 passing through slots 6, 8 and provision for securing the ends of the bar to the back legs of the chair so as to be rigid therewith, or so as to swivel thereon. The bar may for instance have circular extensions 3 which pass through the legs and are threaded to receive nuts 5. The nuts 5 may be recessed into the legs, and the recesses plugged. Alternatively, the bar may fit closely between the legs, and be secured by screws passed through the legs into tapped holes in the ends of the bar.
