Abstract
426,536. Petrol-electric locomotives. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURGNURNBERG AKT.-GES., 7, Stadtbachstrasse, Augsburg, Germany. Aug. 9, 1934, No. 23063. Convention date, Aug. 25, 1933. [Class 79 (iii)] In a petrol-electric locomotive, two equally powerful driving sets are provided, arranged in parallel juxtaposition with the generator 2 and driving motors 4 of one set, together with the transmission gear, located alongside the internal-combustion engine 1 of the other driving set and preferably mounted therewith on a common base frame 10, the two base frames abutting in the central transverse plane of the vehicle and being secured together by screws &c. A portion 11 of each base frame is constructed as a gear-box or casing to accommodate the transmission gear, the motors 4 being flanged for attachment thereto. The tops of the gear-boxes may be constructed as footboards providing easy access to the parts.
