Abstract

426,388. Protective devices for dynamoelectric machines. HOOVER, Ltd., Perivale, Greenford, Middlesex.-(Hoover Co. ; North Canton, Ohio, U.S.A.) Nov. 30, 1934, No. 34436. [Class 35] Casings and supports ; motors, controlling.- For reducing interference with radio signals by an electric motor the motor circuit is connected to the frame by circuits including condensers and a metal housing encloses the motor frame and is insulated therefrom. As shown applied to a suction cleaner, the motor frame C is formed at the lower end with a flange C<4> secured by screws C<5> to a baseplate D. The edge of the baseplate is inserted in a soft rubber or other resilient insulating washer F which is in the form of a ring having a substantially U-shaped cross section. The housing B has a curved flange B<1> secured on the washer F and fan casing A<1> by screws A<2>. A pair of condenser blocks G is mounted in the reduced commutator end C<1> of the motor frame and secured by straps G<1>. The armature of the motor described is connected between two series field windings, a condenser being connected between each end of each field winding and the frame. Fig. 6 shows such a connection with an additional tapping J<1> on one of the field windings whereby the motor is adapted to run at one of two speeds.
